The wait is over…

So the much anticipated Vogue US September Issue cover has been leaked, and much to everyone’s surprise and relief it is graced by models. Yes, modelS, not one, not two, but three beautiful supermodels, namely Cara Delevingne (natch), Joan Smalls and Karlie Kloss. One can’t help to think that Anna Wintour is trying to make up for something with this hat-trick… It has been over a year after all since the glossy featured a model on the coveted cover – Kate Upton, June 2013, if your memory needs jogging because it was SO long ago.

The model cover vs celeb cover has long been an issue bigger than this September’s issue itself which boasts a whopping 856 pages (do they not know that small bags are in at the moment not huge totes and shoppers – how are we supposed to lug that around?!) Back in 2009 in the film The September Issue Grace Coddington spoke openly about Anna Wintour’s controversial but ultimately economically savvy predilection for cover story celebs. Die hard fash fans that would never sell out – other than to buy this season’s Saint Laurent pale pink fox fur coat of course – have long had to resign themselves to the reign of the celeb cover, because who’s going to argue with Anna? Exactly. If anyone did have a glimmer of hope for the models’ return it was extinguished around April when Wintour ACTUALLY went there and put Kimye on the cover. I would have put my money on Kendall Jenner being on the cover… If you were hoping for that don’t worry, you can get your Kardash cover fix with Teen Vogue and LOVE.

 

 

It seems apt that the cover, which christens the models ‘The Instagirls’, was leaked by Bryan Boy on Instagram. He wrote: ‘Blockbuster American vogue cover!!!! Bravo! Blew everyone out of the water! Return to fashion!!!! Models!!’ Indeed, a model on the cover of Vogue? How novel! Under ‘The Instagirls’ the cover reads: ‘Models of the moment in the clothes of the season’. Models? In the new season’s clothes? In the September issue? Truly Inspired!

Clothes’ horses and clothes’ poodles (yes Ambi you still have a chance!) everywhere are rejoicing!
